Language is not set in stone, the study of language is descriptive, not prescriptive. So it is all about looking at how it is used, not trying to state rules for how it should be used.

Also, vowl sounds are the parts of words that vary most with different accents. It depends on the accent whether it sounds like on letter or another to a speaker.

To lots of non-native speakers of english, the words ship and sheep sound the same, just one has a slightly different vowl sound. It all depends on how you have learned to speak the language, and there are no set rules for it.

Take that wierd alien thing

Studing english, almost as useful as studying art!
